The Black Bengal goat is a type of goat found in several regions including Bangladesh, West Bengal, Assam, and Odisha. These goats typically have black skin and fur, though they can also be brown, white, or grey. The Black Bengal goat is small in size, but its body structure is compact. Its horns are small and its legs are short. An adult male weighs approximately 25 to 30 kg and the female 20 to 25 kg. Its milk production is low. It is very popular in Bangladesh due to its low feed demand and high kid production rate.[citation needed] Black Bengal goats reach sexual maturity at an earlier age than most other breeds. The goat becomes pregnant twice a year and gives birth to one to three kids. This breed can easily adapt to any environment and its disease resistance is very high. It produces high quality meat and skin and is preferred for its skin and high breeding rate. This breed plays a very important role in reducing unemployment and poverty in Bangladesh. They can eat most vegetables, herbs and leaves, but a large amount of carrots is fatal for them.
